Hi Lisa,
I´m still under the impression of your concert @The Pianos.
But before I say something faintly relevant about this I would like to thank you for your time in front of the club on Saturday, the 9th. I hope you don´t waste time on asking yourself what kind of a surreal lighthead bothered you about an incident that had happened ten years ago.(Completely disappointed in myself and GMAT, I angrily shoved a cup of coffee to the waste basket in front of you. Pathetic.Inexcusable.) Nevertheless, thanks for listening to my mumbling on Saturday.
I´ve bought your CD, and I´ve listened to your songs, again.
Given my history of survival of the not-so-fittest, I let them cathartically shatter my defenses, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
The lyrics -sharp and subtle - on a quest to find this miraculous feeling that pleases, hurts, and then transcends both pleasure and pain. Relentless, Emersonian?, search for ideal love and friendship.
And then the music, which instead of assuaging, brakes and roughens – self indulgence.
Such a gentle, inteli-gent Americana that I need so much nowadays.
Thanks for all the unexpected.
P.S. You didn´t remotely strike me as semi-(even)-retiree, so good luck with your new quest. Still, will you play again? jk

Cherry Cornelio - Tuesday, August 15th, 2006 7:37 AM
Hi Lisa,
I can't believe how there is so many people with the surname cornelio. I've been trying to trace all my relations for my family tree and I just want to know if there is a possibility if we are related. As far as I know, my lolo (grandfather) is half spanish or something and the rest of my mother's family is living in Philippines. Could you please reply and if there is any other cornelio out there please contact me because it would be great to find out if we are all related!

Also, this is the first time I have heard your music and it has made quite an impression. Keep it up because you are beautiful! I someday wish to perform all my own songs I have written, but I think I may need singing lessons!

Lisa,
I enjoyed meeting you at the muffins cafe yesterday in the pouring rain. I'm not sure if this is the proper cyber venue to send an email through, but it is the only one provided on your sight. Would love to give you my book about Tucson, Linda Rondstadt's hometown, and now, mine too. You should come down this winter and play there if you can. Let me know, perhaps we can meet up in the village sometime. My publisher, Powerhousebooks is down on Charlton street and they do a good amount of music related publishing. powerhousebooks.com and I'm listed on their catalogue. Stay in touch.

joe del priore - Sunday, March 9th, 2003 10:03 AM
cd review: Producer Ben Wittman who did 4-song EP in nineties, gets pristine, unadorned sound, never overextending her instrument. Lisa still has a girlish quality in her tone on some cuts, yet believably nasty and womanly on others. Evidence of attempt to move beyond lyrical cliche into poetry successful on some cuts. Decision to showcase her mastery of genres-country, pop, rock, folk, designed to give full intro to her versatility a wise choice.. I wanted one strong blues number, which she can do, evidenced by her steamy cover of Chris Smithers' "Love Me Like A Man" which she sadly stopped singing years ago. "Enough" contains her best chorus yet. "Repairs" is a mid-thirties reality check (perhaps she's singing to herself), "When She comes Down" also centers on self-destructiveness in a more visceral vein. "Bury This One" is not as nasty here as it is live, but still effective and so radio friendly. "Lost", featuring a Hamburger dobro, is similar in idea to "Enough", ie. finding meaning with The Right Significant Other."Queen Of The Broken Hearts" has a phrasing and pacing too similar to "That Was Then" and is too generic lyrically. "All About Your Eyes" contains as much self-disgust at weakness in tolerating partner's cheating as it does anger at the partner. "Drive" delineates urban isolation and its escape through the car, incorporating the child's imagination behind daddy's wheel. Her former road partner, Russell Farhang lends beautiful violin on the gentle, fragile "My Mother Never Told Me" (wish he was on more tracks). "Better Off" is an okay uptempo piece, but I would have ended the cd with the vastly superior "Can't Move Fast Enough". What I would Like To See--Lisa has a sardonic sense of humor a la Jill Sobule, want to hear more of that in lyrics. She can create powerful topic songs evidenced by her brilliant "Most Of The Night" which she also stopped performing; want to see her tackle social issues. She writes romantic, bittersweet, and angry love songs, but one missing ingredient is the sensual, I want it, I need it, I don't care if you sneak out in the morning, I gotta have it now sweaty love song. She really nailed that Smithers tune, so the potential is there. What she might reconsider: sometimes her rhymes are predictable, if not the actual words, then when the rhyme will occur, ie. a tendency to recite lines rather than vary phrasing, pausing, racing through stanzas. Think of Joni's "Help Me", a giant balloon releasing air, darting, dipping, changing direction, unpredictable, yet provocative in its description of chaotic love. Think of any of Burt Bachrach whom Lisa admires. I want to see her get vocally creative in her phrasing. The irony of Lisa's body of work is fascinating. Her enunciation and diction are perfect, her compositions are balanced, patterned, precise, many right out of Songwriting 101. She herself does not ramble, gets right to the point, speaks fast, has quick answers, dismisses anything that doesn't interest her. Lisa probably controls 90% of the conversations she has. Think of all that control and precision in her and her work, and now contemplate her narrators. See the contrast? Her song people are struggling for control, or have lost it entirely. Masochistic, co-dependent, addicted to love, obsessed, distrustful to the point of paranoia, blaming others, blaming themselves, restless, alienated etc. Is it possible that this is another part of Lisa herself that makes her uncomfortable or uneasy, a part she is dealing with through her music? If so, isn't that the biggest irony, that the part of herself she tries to disguise is also that which serves as inspiration for her most intense, creative work. Then again, isn't that usually the case with artists? 3/9/03

Bottom Line report: second show. Appearance: stripped down, little makeup, dark halter top, jeans, looked toned. Band: Billy Masters impressive on lead, ably backed by Visceglia on bass, Vonnegut on drums. Voice: middle register strong as usual, color, nuance, upper and lower range used mostly for contrast. Songs: very eclectic, country, pop, rock, some bluesy stuff, many new or recent. Gaffs: one slight misstep on lyrics, quickly recovered to chorus. Demeanor: relaxed, confident.Turnout: good.Overall:strong effort with some hard jamming, inventive lyrics, interesting melodies, included Andersen's violinist on one number. Advantage of playing before national act is increased exposure, downside is Lisa only played 35 min. Review of cd upcoming.

joe del priore - Friday, March 7th, 2003 3:01 PM
Lisa, If ever you wonder if your music affects people and means something, I want you to know we buried my mother last week and listening to music, yours and others, has helped get me through a difficult time. Kill 'em tonite.

Al Maddy - Thursday, March 6th, 2003 6:36 PM
Hi Lisa,
I was thrilled to read your review by Dan A. of the N.Y.Post. I usually agree with him.
Touche...I wish I was available to come see you at the Bottom Line, but that can't happen for me.I watch two adorable boys on Friday nites...because their mom works.Good luck with your gig..by the way we met a while ago...I don't know if you remember....but I believe we once played "God Bless the Child"....anyways,I'm looking forward too hearing your record....best of luck

Sharon Johnson - Tuesday, March 4th, 2003 11:40 AM
An LA friend of mine, Robin Rutherford, told me I should attend one of your gigs a while back...and I did. I hope to to show up at this one as well.

seetee - Friday, February 28th, 2003 2:50 AM
here on the vanlose stairway we dont often go for the cowgirl thing but Van Morrison himself played the Bottom Line & has worn a cowboy hat too! And of course the talent shines, we just hope to get an audience DAT of Lisa live for her fans on the net! If you grab it drob us a line, meanhile visist the VLS bunker http://vls.easytree.org/bunker/

joe del priore - Friday, February 7th, 2003 10:05 AM
I hope media people show up for the Bottom Line show so Lisa can get some ink. I would suggest buying two cds as they are bound to sell out quickly as she tours and steps up her gig list. This is a big venue and Anderson is a national act so it would be nice if she had a great turnout. 2003 could be a huge step forward for her. Support indies. Break both legs Lisa.Anytime you want to do an interview let me know.

joe del priore - Wednesday, January 8th, 2003 1:40 PM
Interesting to see what choices are made on cd as to style, instrumentation, personnel considering Lisa has a 20 year catalogue to chose from. I prefer mid to uptempo songs about people pissed off from being dumped, lied to, or generally angry to the ballads. "Moving Downthe Line" from the well received 4 song ep six years ago is my favorite, followed by a song who's title I don't know. Features a rumbling, menacing bass-guitar riff and lyrics about being at the bottom of a well or hole or something, oozes attitude, very radio friendly. This site is good because it wasn't easy getting in touch with her before.

Tom Cavagnero - Tuesday, December 31st, 2002 12:31 PM
I also know your brother, Bud, very well, from Hoerle Blvd. days. I remember the day he announced to our 7th grade class that you were born. Otherwise, any other memory of him annoys the hell out of me (just kidding!).
Your mother is very pretty; apparently, you stole all of the looks - it skipped Bud.
(I only say that because I am now officially grotesque.)

Tell him "hi" - do you every perform in LA?
God Bless You, Lisa

Wer'e in SR. Cornelio's class and were debating wether his looks run in the family. We saw your website and the whole class agrees that you are very pretty. You are also a fantastic singer and we were laughing about your brother's looks. "It doesn't run in the family" we joked. So he wanted to prove that he's 'handsome' but we didn't change our minds. We just wanted to say hello.
