Hello
We have now raised over $2,500 for Sri Lanken monk Bhante Wimala's Triple Gem Society. A very big thank you to everyone who has contributed. As you can imagine, relief efforts in Sri Lanka are far from complete, and now that the international spotlight has faded, contributions are more needed than ever. Please visit Bhante's website at www.bhantewimala.com to learn more about his work and where to send your donation.

"I am reminded that no matter where you live and who you are life is full of challenges. How you perceive them and the way you react is what makes a difference. So it is important to stay focused, detach and quickly let go of the emotions of disappointments."

Dear Friends,
Four years ago, I spent two weeks in Sri Lanka studying Buddhism with a Sri Lanken monk named Bhante Wimala. The impact of this trip cannot be easily conveyed. Let´s just say that the things I learned and experienced helped me navigate some difficult times. After the devastation of December 26th, I know I must do whatever I can to help.

We plan to donate 100% of the profits from the concert on February 25th to Bhante´s non-profit organization, the Triple Gem Society. Triple Gem has recently taken over a neglected refugee camp and has also provided clean water, medical and kitchen supplies to areas hardest hit by the disaster. To learn more about Triple Gem´s programs, please visit www.bhantewimala.com

Sri Lanka is often referred to as the "Teardrop of India" because of its shape and location off the tip of the Indian peninsula. After an eighteen year civil war that has taken over 60,000 lives and now a natural disaster that has already taken 26,000 lives, the moniker is painful in its simplicity. Perhaps with the world´s efforts, however, the teardrop will transform from one of sadness to one of hope.

I realize that many of you have already contributed to larger organizations, but know that we are grateful for even the smallest donation. If you can´t make the show, please consider sending what you can to help Bhante.

Thank you for your support over the years and for your help with this tremendous relief effort. I hope to see you on the 25th.

All my best,
Lisa Cornelio

Here are some reviews about my latest release:

"With her husky vocals and tough-chick lyrics set against acoustic rock, Lisa Cornelio's self-titled debut album is very appealing. She negotiates the hard turns of love with skill, but she really shows off her stuff on her composition "When She Comes Down" - an Aimee Mann-ish number about finding reality in a confused world. For a first shot, Cornelio proves to be a singer/songwriter with great promise." - Dan Aquilante, New York Post

And in the Village Voice:
"This deep-voiced urban cowgirl has been working the NYC circuit for a few years now, and she's beginning to shine and separate herself from the pack. [She's] promoting her fine new self-titled CD, which showcases her songwriting skills." - Andrew Aber
